Iliac Wing Force

Description

Lateral force measured at the iliac wing represents the force applied to the side of the pelvis, which is a common contact point in side impacts [1]. WebSAT combines this measurement with the acetabulum Y-axis force to evaluate the side-impact pelvis load.

This metric does not have a separate button. WebSAT displays the iliac-force curve and uses it in the combined force result when you select Injury Metrics > Acetabulum/Iliac Force for a supported side-impact test.

Measurements used by WebSAT

  • Force at the Iliac (Y)

How WebSAT processes the data

  1. Convert the iliac force to newtons (N), if necessary.
  2. Filter the iliac force at CFC 600.
  3. Add the filtered iliac Y-axis force to the filtered acetabulum Y-axis force.
  4. Find the peak combined force for the impact side.
  5. Compare the peak combined force with the applicable reference value.
